ArcelorMittal S.A. – Liberia Western Range DSO Iron Ore Project

Client Needs: In phase 2 of the Liberia project ArcelorMittal undertook an expansion at the Tokadeh mine to increase production to 15-million tonnes/year of concentrated sinter fine ore as well as the construction of a railway from the Liberia Port to the Mine site.
Procurement, expediting & logistics support to secure delivery of mining and rail equipment. Provided commercial oversight on the procurement of material/ goods for the ArcelorMittal DSO Railroad, Mine and Port rehabilitation project. Commercial Management of material/ goods for the ArcelorMittal DSO, Railroad and Shipping Port rehabilitation project. Manage vendor relationships to build and maintain a supply chain that was integral to the project execution function.

Results: The project was able to negotiate contracts with Global Suppliers achieving millions in cost savings on procured equipment and services. Logistics strategies such as marshalling at designated shipping ports and transportation visibility resulted in shipping cost savings and the implementation of a fully comprehensive logistics solution for the project.
