BHP is a multinational company with headquarters in Melbourne, Australia that extracts and processes minerals, oil, and gas. BHP has mining operations in Australia, North America and South America.
Client Needs: The BHP Jansen project is expected to be the world’s largest potash mine, producing more than 8 million tons of marketable potash annually with an expected 70-year mine life.
Project Engineering and detail engineering support on the green-field process plant facilities which included the trade-off between four (4) 2 Mtpa process plants in parallel, two (2) 4 Mtpa process plants in parallel or one (1) larger 8 Mtpa facility. Provided key input into the plant layout and design optimizations while leading discussions with multiple disciplines.

Results: The client continued to pursue trade-off studies and Front-End Engineering Design in parallel to ongoing shaft sinking and detailed engineering of associated surface infrastructure.
