
Marathon GOLD – Valentine Project
Marathon’s objective is the financing, development and successful operation of the Valentine Gold Project with zero harm to their people, protection of the environment, and respect for communities and Indigenous groups.
Client Needs: Marathon’s principal asset is the Valentine Gold Project in the Central Region of Newfoundland and Labrador, one of the top mining jurisdictions in the world. When completed, the Valentine Gold Project will be the largest gold mine in Atlantic Canada and a significant contributor to the economy of Newfoundland and Labrador.
TMG Provided:
Owner’s Team engineers to validate and review EPCM contractor overall engineering deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, General Arrangement drawings, 3D model, discipline design criteria, technical specifications, and commercial procurement packages. Conducted commercial and technical evaluations used in budget validation for major equipment and services contracts in accordance with the overall design intent and site conditions. Ongoing project engineering support for re-tendered Engineering & Procurement and Construction Management supervision.

Results: TMG successfully completed this review and provided several major issues in the core process and detail design that required addressing. In addition, TMG developed a new Engineering-Procurement scope of work document that the Marathon used in their new RFP process, allowing a contracting methodology change gating into execution.
